Kindergarten Round-up
Wayne-Westland Community Schools invite you and your child to attend our Kindergarten Round-up. New this school year, every elementary school in our district will offer all day Kindergarten. All eleven of our elementary schools will host a Kindergarten Round-up for parents and children on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 from 9:00-10:00 AM. Parents will have an opportunity to tour the school and explore our programs, meet the principal and Kindergarten teachers, receive registration materials, and so much more! If you can't make it during the day, our school offices will also be open from 6:00 - 7:00 PM on April 13th, so that you may register your incoming Kindergartner. Children must be five years old by December 1, 2010 to attend Kindergarten.

Attend our annual Kindergarten Round-up and receive a FREE t-shirt, school supplies, and a backpack plus register to win a WebkinzTM animal.

Tinkham Center houses the Alternative High School as well as the Adult and Community Education programs.  We are located in the heart of the school district and are privileged to have a very functional facility and good neighbors.

Students attending the Alternative High School are referred here by their sending school.  In general, students have not been successful in a traditional school setting academically, behaviorally, or both.  Often, poor attendance has been a major problem.  Students attend Tinkham in order to achieve a higher standard of success, learning both academic skills and the ability to get along with teachers, administrators, and peers.

Tinkham is a community of students, their families, and staff which is designed to provide opportunities for growth and learning for all of us.  Tinkham has high standards for student behavior and because of our small size, we know each other well and expect one another to work hard and do the right thing at all times.  We work together to provide each other support in order to succeed.

Your success at Tinkham depends upon your willingness to work and desire to succeed.  No school or staff can make something out of nothing.  We start with this staff's deeply held belief that ALL STUDENTS CAN LEARN, and that EVERY INDIVIDUAL POSSESSES THE POTENTIAL FOR GREATNESS.  We will look for your special talents and encourage you to use them, but you are the master of your own mind, body, and soul and will choose your own course of success or failure.

Remember the ten most important two letter words, “If it is to be it is up to me.”

Welcome to our community!

Sincerely,
Joe Orban, Principal
